And just like that, the festive season is upon us and here at Karri with the help of our partners Nedbank, we’ve had our most eventful year to date! We have welcomed a variety of new schools and saved educators an average of over 134 hours of valuable time, instead of counting R5 coins stuffed in old envelopes delivered to school for collections. We’ve taken part in numerous events both in South Africa and abroad including the SABISA Conference, Eduweek and EDTechxAsisa to name a few.

Here is a snapshot of Karri’s key highlights from 2017:

In the first quarter of the year, we welcomed the likes of The Grove Primary School, Rhenish Primary School, Westerford High School, Herzlia Middle School, Bergvliet High School, Sweet Valley Primary School and countless others to the Karri family.

As May approached us, Karri headed off to the SBMA Conference and thanks to Nedbank we were a Gold Sponsor at this event, which entitled us to premium space in the foyer at the Southern Sun OR Tambo International Airport, as well as various other advertising rights at the conference itself. The SBMA schools loved Karri, and we became the highlight of the event.

When June arrived, Karri hopped across the pond to EdTechX London to debut our innovative payment solution in England. We were overwhelmed by the positive response we were greeted with. See you next year London!

June was also a great month for one lucky teacher, who was the winner of our cell phone competition! We hope you are still enjoying your iPhone. For more competitions like this, head over to our Facebook page.

July was upon us and winter was officially in full swing. This didn’t deter the Nedbank team who took to the Nedbank’s across South Africa to hand out pamphlets about Karri to members of the public.

By the time October came around, We were back earning our international stripes as we took on EdTechXAsia. We discovered the need for Karri in every educational environment and we were given the opportunity to interact with principals and teachers from a wide range of schools from all over South East Asia. Karri also attended McKinsey Digital Innovation Conference with Peter Ogle from Nedbank. The conference gave us the opportunity to showcase Karri and it once again confirmed the need for a cashless payment solution within the education sector.

In the final quarter of the year, Karri welcomed many more schools to our family. Including; St Johns, Grey College, Milnerton Primary School, Bishop Bavin, Paarl Girls High School, Jeppe High School for Boys, Northdene Primary School and several other schools across South Africa.

As we start to wind down and prepare for a break, we hope that you too are celebrating a successful 2017 and are enjoying the summer holidays. The Karri team look forward to yet another year of bringing payment solutions to all schools across southern Africa.
